Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)
Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)
The pupil premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low-income and other families (listed below) and their peers.
Schools receive funding for pupils aged 5 to 16 who are:
eligible for free school meals, or have been eligible at any time over the last six years
in care and have been ‘looked after’ continuously for more than 6 months
children of parents serving in the armed forces.
With the recent changes as a result of Covid, many parents may now qualify for free school meals, so please use this free service to see if you are eligible.
If you think you may be eligible for PPG then please do contact the office, who can support you with this. This is a private matter and your child will not even be aware if they are in receipt of PPG or not.
Overcoming barriers to learning is at the heart of our PPG use. We understand that needs and costs will differ depending on the barriers to learning being addressed. As such, we do not automatically allocate personal budgets per pupil in receipt of the grant.
Instead, we identify the barrier to be addressed and the interventions required, whether in small groups, large groups, the whole school or as individuals, and allocate a budget accordingly. Schools are accountable for this spending and below you will see our spending plans and the assciated impact of each report.
